As Google’s poster boy for good SEO practice, Matt Cutts is undoubtedly one of the world’s most respected SEO experts.

When he talks, the SEO community listen.  After all, he works for Google, so if anyone knows what he is talking about, Matt Cutts does.

So it might be of interest to know that for some time, Matt Cutts has been using WordPress to run his own personal blog at www.mattcutts.com/blog.   This would be interesting enough just because he is such a respected figure at Google, but it’s even more fascinating because Google actually has its own free blogging system (called Blogger) that he has chosen NOT to use.

So why is Matt Cutts using WordPress?

Well, the reason is that as the guy you look to for SEO advice, he is always looking for the best options from an SEO point of view.  The number one question that people ask him is “How can my website do better in Google?”, and one of his top pieces of advice is to use WordPress.

When he presented at WordCamp in 2009 he was already using WordPress and he said that, “WordPress automatically solves a ton of SEO issues”.  So much so, that 80-90% of the mechanics of SEO is already taken care of with WordPress, straight out of the box, before you even use any special SEO plugins.

It is Matt Cutts job to understand and demonstrate good SEO practice for webmasters, and as such it makes perfect sense that he uses the system that he believes is best for SEO, and that just happens to be WordPress.
