We’re delighted to announce the release of the Title Split Testing plugin for WordPress, which allows you to find out which headlines your readers love and which they hate. Newspaper editors know that a great headline is the key to attracting readers, and top newspapers split test their headlines online to measure the effectiveness of different ideas. You can now do the same for FREE on your WordPress site using our new plugin.

Download the Title Split Testing Plugin from the WordPress plugin directory
Full details of the plugin and FAQ’s can be found at the link above, but if you have any questions, ideas or issues, feel free to post them here and we’ll do our best to get back to you.
In the meantime, give it a try and start improving the readership of your WordPress website.

Hi Dave
Apologies for the inconvenience. It seems that the SVN wasn’t synched properly when we made a small update last night. It is updated now and I have just tested to ensure that it works, so you should be fine now. Thanks for letting us know, and please do let us know if you have any further issues or ideas.

Neat idea for a plugin, thanks for adding it to the plugin directory. While playing around with it I ended up making a few edits, thought I’d send them back upstream in case you want to incorporate them in the plugin.
Basically I tweaked the styles for the metabox, settings screen and the FAQ page. For the FAQ and setting screen I just changed the HTML so it is more in line with the WordPress UI (I’m a dork about that sort of stuff). The metabox I changed so it makes more sense for me, though that might not work for others.
My diff showing what I changed: http://cl.ly/2Z3W0O1L27163F260q1F
I also added two images to the plugin folder. screenshot-1.png refers to http://cl.ly/2Y0R393S410Z2F011F3z, which you had in the plugin but I figured should be called screenshot-1.png in order to show up in the screenshots tab on your .org plugin page. And icon32.png is here http://cl.ly/2e3J3n3a420y1n0O0H2A and is just a larger version of your icon I made so that it can sit next to the titles on the setting and FAQ screens.
Anyway, I hope that’s helpful in some way. I’ll let you know if I have any other thoughts after using it for a bit. Thanks again for putting it up on .org!
(Oh, and I just remembered. I also changed the line with the URL for the menu icon, since it wasn’t right. It was pointing to /title-split-testing instead of /title-split-testing-for-wordpress, I think.)

Hey Ryan
Thanks for trying out the plugin and sending over your thoughts. It’s really good to get your feedback and your suggestions all sound great, so we’ll update it as soon as we get a spare few minutes.

Hi Ryan
Just letting you know that we’ve implemented most of your suggestions so the settings screens are now more attractive and in line with the WordPress dashboard. We’ll update the screenshots soon.
Thanks again for your feedback!

Hi,
Is there a way I can use this plugin to split test different pages that I make? I am testing price and not headlines. If not, would you happen to know of one that does this with WP?
Thanks!
Nelson

Hi Nelson
The plugin is designed to test different titles for the same page, so it wouldn’t be possible to split test different pages. I’m not sure exactly what it is that you want to compare on different pages, but you might find the following plugin useful – A/B Test for WordPress
I hope that helps!

Does this play well with w3 super cache, and other caching style plugins?
July 30, 2012 at 5:11 pm
Hi Steve, we’d recommend trying it and see how you get on. We know that it works well with the latest version of Varnish Cache but did have some compatibility issues with older versions of Varnish, but we haven’t tested with W3 Super Cache yet. If you do test it, we’d love to hear how it goes. Similarly, when we test it we’ll let you know how it goes.
