About the role

Day to day and skills

The majority of the time you’ll be working to deliver, maintain, and improve world-leading sustainable WordPress websites for the mission aligned organisations we work with. Primarily you will be in and around the code. An important facet to this role will be evaluating websites against standards and confidently communicating findings alongside potential problems and solutions.

Scope definition
This may be technically scoping and building a full site in an end-to-end project, doing similar for new or improved features of an existing site, or investing time building on internal projects.

Extensive WordPress expertise
You have a passion for PHP, experience with the Gutenberg editor, and a clear understanding of most things HTML and CSS. And at least a sprinkling of Vanilla JS expertise.

Complimentary development experience
You’re confident with version control, build tools, third-party integrations, and managing sites via hosting platforms. Other experience here could be scoping technical requirements, clearly estimating time for delivering work, and supporting a wider team with development-related considerations.

A positive perfectionist mindset
You want sites to be great in all aspects, whether that’s performance, accessibility, sustainability, or IA, UX and design, but you’re confident in balancing this with a realistic approach to delivering projects successfully, and you have a thirst for understanding the technical aspects of ensuring standards are met.

Empathetic working approach
You can balance your technical expertise with an appreciation for multiple perspectives and objectives, and you can clearly communicate complicated concepts to a variety of audiences. You enjoy helping others succeed and exploring solutions with them.

A keenness for evaluating and communicating how websites meet set standards
You enjoy evaluating how a website fares in areas like accessibility and sustainability. You are confident in both communicating this and supporting others in exploring related problems and solutions.

Culture
Our team is encouraged to bring their complete selves to work and this means being part of a culture of acceptance.

Who you will work with

Team
Generally you’ll be working closely with our Tech Leads and the other developers within our team, as well as the wider agency and the organisations we partner with, bringing technical expertise to a wide range of conversations.

Clients
The organisations you’d be working with sit firmly within the purpose driven space and we have a robust ethical screening process to ensure this remains in place. This could be in any sector from charity through to commercial but they all share our values and want to improve the lives of people and lessen the impact we are having on the planet. It’s really important that people align to who they work with.
