Digital Declutter

Digital Declutter

A free checklist to support you in reducing digital carbon emissions in everyday actions, as an individual or as a business.

Digital sustainability may be a new subject for you, or something you know about but don’t know where to start. Either way, we hope this toolkit will have the tips you need to get going.

Those of us who have been in this space for some time recognise that minimising our carbon footprint is bigger than saving energy – it’s about climate justice. It’s imperative that we rethink our behaviours with technology, the resources we use and the amount of them, and challenge those in charge of our shared technology so that we keep the digital sphere open, fair and inclusive for generations to come.

All of the information within the Digital Declutter checklist is accurate as of March 2026. If you are an expert in one of these spaces and can contribute updated information or have insight that would be a great addition, we’d love to hear from you by contacting the Wholegrain team.

Digital Declutter Toolkit was created by the team at Wholegrain with thanks to all of those from outside our team who contributed to the updated version Nuriya Shoro, Emma Askew, James Gill, Chris W, Samantha Cooper and Joanna Bingham. We also thank Business Declares who supported the original toolkit in 2019 and the original contributors Marketa Benisek, Hermione Taylor, Andrew Hendersen and Kate Sandle.
